The Yellow Jacket flaring tool is useful when installing mini-split units and R-410A refrigerant. When installing mini-splits, most teams use flashing to join the refrigerant tubes that connect the outdoor and indoor units. In addition, R-410A is a much higher pressure than older refrigerants, so mini-split manufacturers often require a larger diameter and a deeper flare to produce stronger joints. While the angle of the R-410A flare is the same as a standard flare, it needs more surface, allowing more area to seal against the flare fitting. This higher collar flare will work in all systems, not just R-410A.
